About UK DAB Networks

UK DAB Networks was founded in 2020 to manage and operate DAB multiplexes as well as provide consultancy for broadcasters and multiplex operators on aspects of DAB digital radio broadcasting.

We've worked with Nation Broadcasting, Like Media, Angel Radio and other independent clients managing small scale DAB multiplexes, in addition to working on applications for small scale DAB multiplexes being advertised by Ofcom.

UK DAB Networks has been awarded licences to operate DAB multiplexes in Winchester and Basingstoke. UK DAB Networks is a shareholder in successful applications for Bedford and Swansea and we look forward to launching these multiplexes later in 2023.

Ash Elford

Ash has been interested in DAB since purchasing a Psion Wavefinder back in 2001, leading to him starting working in the DAB industry from 2006. Since then Ash has managed DAB operations for GCap Media, Global Radio, Arqiva and Nation Broadcasting. Ash has also been involved with Portsmouth based community radio station Angel Radio since 2015 helping them grow their footprint on FM and of course, DAB digital radio.

Alan Beech

Alan has had a long career as a principle engineer working for NTL and Arqiva before forming his own company Commtronix. Alan worked on some of the first DAB transmitter installations in the 1990s and since 2016 has been working with Ash on providing engineering support to the Portsmouth DAB multiplex. As the Ofcom small scale DAB trial has progressed, Alan has helped other operators with engineering expertise, in particular with codec provision.
